About the Event:
Workout to Wipe Out Period Poverty is a trainer led fitness and fundraising event aimed at addressing the impact of period poverty on school absenteeism among vulnerable girls in Mandera County. Period poverty continues to force thousands of girls to miss an average of 4 days every month due to lack of sanitary products, which contributes to reduced educational performance, low self-esteem, and high school dropout rates. Our initiative seeks to mobilize communities to raise funds that will provide dignity kits to 4,000 school-going adolescent girls in Mandera County.

Challenge
Lack of access to basic menstrual hygiene products is a major obstacle to the education and well-being of vulnerable girls and women in Kenya. Many girls miss at least four school days each month during their menstrual cycles because they do not have sanitary pads and other essential hygiene items. This absenteeism leads to poor performance and dropping out of school, forcing them into early marriages and early pregnancy, with no future socioeconomic prospects.
Solution
NAPAD aims to provide menstrual hygiene kits to 4000 vulnerable girls in Mandera County. The dignity kits, which will include sanitary pads, soap, panties, and other essential hygiene items, will ensure that these girls can attend school consistently and maintain their health and dignity. By addressing these basic needs, we empower these resilient girls to focus on their education.
Long-Term Impact
Reusable pads provide environmental benefits by reducing menstrual product waste in landfills, as they can be washed and reused multiple times, eliminating the need for frequent purchases. This initiative will improve school attendance and retention rates for approximately 4,000 girls, leading to higher graduation rates and better educational outcomes. Access to sanitary products also promotes health and hygiene, reducing health risks and infections.
Summary
This initiative aims to provide dignity kits to 4,000 vulnerable adolescent girls in schools in Mandera County, Kenya. In this county, girls face significant barriers to accessing education, including period poverty. The dignity kits consist of a package of reusable sanitary pads, soap, and panties. Supporting their menstrual management will ensure that they can attend school consistently, improve their performance, and maintain their health and dignity.
