Humanitarian Situation Report: Conflict-Induced Displacement in Belet-Hawa and Dolow, Somalia.

Reporting Period: July 2025

Prepared by: Nomadic Assistance for Peace and Development (NAPAD)

Over the past two months, Belet-Hawa District in the Gedo Region has witnessed a sharp escalation in armed conflict between forces of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Jubaland State. This violence, rooted in deep-seated political and military tensions, has led to widespread civilian displacement, infrastructure destruction, and a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation. To date, more than 5,000 households have been displaced within Somalia, while an additional 1,700 households have crossed the border into Mandera County, Kenya, seeking safety and assistance. The situation remains volatile, with sporadic gunfire, restricted movement, and ongoing insecurity severely complicating humanitarian access and operations. Urgent, coordinated humanitarian support is needed to address the growing needs of displaced populations, including shelter, food, water, healthcare, protection, and psychosocial support.
