Drought Response

Enhance the protection of lives and livelihood assets of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities through improved access to water, fodder (green matter) and income (CFW) for 100 poor riverine farmers in Buurdhuubo, Gedo region.

Actual Activities Implemented:
1: Community mobilisation, identification and selection of beneficiaries.
2: Procuring of Sudan grass seeds and fuel for distribution.
3: Distribution of Sudan grass seeds.
4: Distribution of fuel.
5: Sowing of seeds and monitoring performance of crop and progress of farm work.

Outcomes:
1: 300 kilograms of Sudan grass seeds made available to 100 poor riverine farmers in       Buurdhuubo at the rate of 3 kg/farmer to produce fodder for livestock during the dry spell.
2: 2,000 litres of diesel made available to 100 poor riverine farmers in Buurdhuubo to     irrigate Sudanese grass.
3: 100 hectares of farmland sown with Sudane grass and cultivated by target farmers
