The organization was initially registered with the Ministry of Culture and Social Services in Kenya as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2004 and later changed its legal status to a Local Non- Governmental Organization (LNGO) in Somalia in 2006 and later in 2009 with the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya. NAPAD has offices in Elwak, Abudwak Garbaharrey, Dolow, Somalia, Mandera and Nairobi, Kenya.
NAPAD partners with local communities, local organizations, NGOs and International Organizations in sustainable development in Horn of Africa. NAPAD ensures that vulnerable and poverty stricken people, particularly the riverine, pastoral and agro-pastoral communities, enjoy peace, quality living conditions and sustainable development.
NAPAD is a non- governmental organization whose mission is to promote peace and sustainable development amongst (agro) pastoralist communities in the horn of Africa through socialeconomic empowerment and advocacy.
NAPAD envisions a just, peaceful and prosperous society for all..
